About the Course

Microbiology course relates to the study of infectious diseases where the students will learn about the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of various diseases causes by microbes. They are taught about viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites affecting the overall health of humans.

The BMLT college in Dehradun at UIHMT group of college sets itself the objectives of making the students acquire: the scientific bases and the theoretical-practical preparation necessary to be qualified to practice the profession of Biomedical Laboratory Health Technician; the methodology and culture necessary for the practice of lifelong learning; a level of professional, decision-making and operational autonomy that ensures, at the end of the training course, the full mastery of all the necessary skills and their immediate usability in the workplace.

In particular, graduates in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques acquire professional skills through theoretical and practical training that also includes the acquisition of behavioral skills and that is achieved in the specific work context of the profile, so as to guarantee, at the end of the training course, the full mastery of all the necessary skills and their immediate usability in the workplace.

The specific educational objectives consist of the acquisition of the theoretical knowledge deriving from the basic sciences, aimed at their subsequent professional application and preparatory to the understanding of the subjects that characterize the profession.

The course is aimed at providing the fundamental biomedical and hygienic preventive knowledge, the principles of professional discipline as requirements to face the first internship experience, aimed at acquiring the basic skills and orienting the student to the reference professional fields related to the laboratories of Biology, Anatomy and Clinical Biochemistry.

Research opportunities in urban disease control, formulation research, clinical research, analytical development and new drug development are exploding too, with major companies investing in R&D. One can always teach, though it’s advantageous to have a doctorate for such a path. Self-employed microbiologists can set up their own laboratories.
